The Historical Commission met by Zoom at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Commission Members present – Ann Gallo, Carol Hardy-Fanta, Deborah Coy, Jillian Bergman

• Motion to open the meeting by Deborah Coy at 5:04, seconded by Carol
• April 2022 minutes read by Ann. Discussion ensued on the role of the HC and we decided to table this conversation and put on agenda for June meeting. Deborah motioned to approved minutes. Carol seconded.
• Update on Repatriation of Indian Artifacts: Deborah reported that she and Ann went to the schoolhouse on Saturday, May 29^th, photographed and catalogued 12 Indian artifacts from the Francis E. Leupp collection that was donated to the town years ago.  The objects are from various tribes/nations within the US. Next steps will be to identify the contact person (or entity) from each tribe/nation and send them a photograph and information, including how the town obtained these objects. The objective is to ask if they would like the object returned, and if not, what we should do with them. Deborah will draft a cover letter and send it to the HC along with a list of the objects and origins. We will take this up at our next HC meeting in June. Jillian and Ann volunteered to help Deborah with researching contacts at each tribe/nation.

• Schoolhouse update and discussion: Carol updated the HC on the recent Annual Town meeting as it related to the restoration/future of the Schoolhouse. The HC continued to discuss how the HC can help the town on making progress with the schoolhouse. Jillian mentioned perhaps she could reach out to a past colleague who has experience in municipal building restoration. Further discussion will be on agenda for the HC June meeting.

• Motion to close meeting at 5:27 by Deborah, seconded by Carol.
