Qualifications
Knowledge of domestic and wild animals, their diseases and their habitat
Duties & Responsibilities
- Insuring that all animals in the town are free from diseases
- Housed in proper facilities
- Maintained with adequate food and water
- Have all required State Health and immunizations
- Responsible for quarantining all animals that may have been exposed to rabies:
Dog and cat bites to humans
Domestic animals in contact with unknown animals which may be rabid
Quarantining animals for periods of ten days to a year depending on circumstances
- Animal Inspector must fill out a "Barn Book" yearly, listing all animals with in the town, owners , location, conditions etc. This book is sent to the Division of Animal Health in Boston
- Animal Inspector works in conjunction with Animal Control Officer on domestic and wildlife issues such as rabies, bird flu, and all other diseass effecting animals coming into contact with humans
