Santarella - Tyringham's Gingerbread House - Santarella Estate, the historic home and studio of the sculptor, Sir Henry Hudson Kitson, is a truly magical and unique site. Kitson's studio, affectionately known as the "Gingerbread House", gets it's name from the "storybook style" architecture and incredible "rolling" roof. The design and construction of the amazing building was the last major project of his life and continued for over 20 years.
Today, Santarella is owned by the Hoefer-Brandmeyer family, who have taken on the preservation of the incredible history and architecture of the property. The estate is now available as a special event venue, catering to weddings, family events, meetings or retreats conferences and other private functions. Tours of the estate may be scheduled by appointment with a small donation required.
